SHAWN REIDER BENEFIT TOURNAMENT

As most of you already know, Shawn has been battling brain cancer for well over a year now. Although they do have good insurance, the financial burden of Angie not being able to work on a regular basis, travel to and from doctors and hospitals, co-pays, hotels and meals have taken a toll on their financial situation.

Alpine Bay Golf will be hosting another benefit tournament for them on Friday November 1 at 12:00 noon. The tournament will be a three golfer scramble and the entry fee will include lunch. The cost to enter will be $70.00 each or $210.00 per team. Mulligans will be available (2 for $5) with all the mulligan money going to the cause. Each golfer can purchase 2 muligans.

If you have a business and would like to sponsor a hole ($100.00), please let us know asap so that we can have a sponsorship sign created for your business. Any other gifts, contributions or help in any way would be greatly appreciated. If you desire to assist in any way, call us at 256-268-2920.

Shawn has been a vital person in the operation and overall existence of this golf course from the mid 80s up until the time he was diagnosed with cancer. He had a true passion for this place and we want to help the Reider family as much as possible in this time of trying conditions. So keep Shawn and Angie and the entire Reider family in your thoughts and prayers.

Spread the word about this tournament as we need to have a full field of 36 teams if possible.

Payouts are based on 36 teams: i.e., if we have four flights with an equal amount of teams in each flight. 1st place would be #$330.00 and 2nd place would be $210.00 per team.

Place the best you can. The tournament will be flighted after the scores have been posted.

Thanks

Tony Parton

If you are considering a tournament for the upcoming year, give us a call at (256) 268-2920 and we will help you pick a date that would best suite your tournament.

We would like to invite you to join us in our MGA dogfights. The dogfights are a fun game that allows golfers of all skill levels to compete on a fair basis. The dogfight is a formula that allows points for performance. 1pt for a bogie, 2 pts for a par, 3 pts for a birdie and 4 pts for an eagle. 18 holes of par would be 36pts. If a new golfer wants to join and states that he/she normally shoots a round of about 90. To establish a starting point for that person, we would subtract 72 ( which is par for this course) from the stated round of 90. That golfer would begin with 18pts.

As a new golfer you would be frozen at +/- three points for your first three rounds. Your points total would be adjusted after each round. A golfer that starts with 18pts and pulls 20 pts on the first round would then have to pull 19pts the next round.
