Labor Day Yellow Ball Wrap up
We had 14 teams (56 golfers) in our Labor Day Yellow Ball Dogfight. Each team is issued a marked Yellow Ball and it has to be played by one of the golfers on each hole and it is then passed on to another golfer on the next hole. A rotation has to be established prior the team teeing off on their first hole. If the Yellow Ball is lost, the entire team is eliminated from the Yellow Ball portion of the dogfight. Amazingly there was only one lost Yellow Ball.
The tournament was a shotgun start at 9am and the weather was perfect for a morning of golf. The pace of play was very good and the Alpine Bay MGA provided hotdogs for all the golfers after the dogfight.
The regular dogfight results were as follows:
The team of Steve Giddens, Cory Baird, Don Hopton Jones and Chuck Daugherty took 1st place. Their team scored 110 points and that was +12 above their points quota of 98. 2nd place went to Craig Hamilton, Hippie Cleckler, Mike McGrew and Jimmy Berning. Their quota was 95 points and they posted 105 with a difference of +10. 3rd place went to the team of Paul Woo, Randy McDonald, Andy Payant and Teri Daugherty. Their quota was 85 and they posted a 93. We had a tie for 4th place between the team of Cooper Dean, Bob Whitmire, Sam Cooper and Walter Peterson and the team of Jimbo Williams, Randy Burnham, Jeremy Cooper and Steven Powell. Both teams were 6 points above their quota.
The Yellow Ball winners were as follows:
1st place went to the team of Chris Robertson, Tony Parton, Angie Kuhens, and Missy Bullen. They made 28 points with the Yellow Ball and that was 6.5 above their Yellow Ball quota of 22.5. 2nd place went to the team of Woo, McDonald, Payant and Daugherty. Their Yellow Ball was 4.75 above their quota. 3rd went to Giddens, Baird, Hopton Jones and Daugherty with a +3.5. 4th place went to Mike Sweatman, Doug Macmurdo, Chris Palmer and Jeff Kimbrel at +2.25.
There was only one Yellow Ball skin and it went to the Chris Robertson team when Angie Kuhens was the only Yellow Ball to birdie the #4 par 3.
This was a 100% payback dogfight with a total purse of $1680.00. Thanks to the Alpine Bay MGA (Men’s Golf Association) for sponsoring this event.
