2026 Labor Day Yellow Ball recap
We had 64 golfers in the Labor Day Yellow Ball dogfight. They were divided into 16 four golfer teams with each team having an A,B,C & D golfer. The teams were randomly drawn on Sunday afternoon.
The regular Dogfight portion had a tie for 1st place with both teams posting a +21 points above their quota. The teams of Steve Giddens, Neil Keith, Doug MacMurdo & Piper Teal and the team of Brandon Fincher, Shane Cleckler, Chris Palmer & Sam Cooper tied for 1st. The 3rd place team posting a +15 was Chris Robertson, Rich Robinson, Lee Clark & Teri Daugherty . The 4th place team posting a +10 was Wayne Mitchell, Rae Clayton, Matthew Whisman & Amy Travis.
We had 16 Yellow Balls when we started and 14 of them returned to the clubhouse. Some of them looked pretty rough but they found their way back. Chris Robertson’s team finished in 1st place by posting a +9 points above their quota with the Yellow Ball. The team of Paul Woo, Stan Elliott, Hondo Galloway & David Gaston came in 2nd posting a +7. We had a tie for 3rd between Steve Giddens’ team and Brandon Fincher’s team at +6 each.
The skins portion of the tournament is based on the play of the Yellow Ball only. Giddens’ team birdied #1 with the Yellow Ball. Fincher’s team had the only birdie on #3 for a skin. Mike Sweatman’s team had the only birdies with the Yellow ball on holes 6 & 14 for two skins. Chris Robertson’s team had the only birdie on #16 and the team of Leslie Hurst, Joseph Wood, Ryan Smith & Brayden Hay birdied #18 with the Yellow Ball. Each skin was worth $50.00 each.
The proximities on the par 3’s were worth $60ea and they were as follows. #4 at 3’2” was Michele Whisman. Michele was playing on Jeff Bullen’s team that also included Tony Parton and Jay Cooley. Cole Fincher was closest on #8 at 7’ 2”. Playing with Cole was Jason Berry, Malley Limbaugh & Mike Teal. Hole #14 at 5’8” was Mike Sweatman’ team and on #17 Rich Robinson was 2’3”. Rich was on Chris Robertson’s team.

Our next Yellow Ball is scheduled for Black Friday (Friday, Nov 27). Make plans to play. It’s a great team oriented event that allows players meet and to play with other golfers that they would not normally be playing with.
